Who Eyes for the Batam-Bintan Bridge Project?

The government will build a Batam-Bintan bridge that connects the two regions in the Riau Islands. This 7-kilometer long bridge is the longest cross-sea bridge in Indonesia. Yudha Handita Pandjiriawan, Director of Bridge Construction at the Directorate General of Highways of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, said that the bridge would be built through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) scheme.
Yudha said the government provides financial support so that the project remains feasible. "The government's portion is around 30 percent," he said. The Batam–Bintan bridge project is included in the government-solicited category with an investment of Rp 8.8 trillion. Thus, the government will disburse funding of up to Rp 2.64 trillion. Director-General of Infrastructure Financing at the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, Eko Heripoerwanto, said the project auction would run in the second quarter of 2021.
