Geo Dipa's Small Scale Dieng Geothermal to Operate in Late April 2021
PT Geo Dipa Energi conducted the first blow of the 10 MW Dieng Small Scale Geothermal Power Plant (PLTP) on Thursday (4/22). Geo Dipa's Director of Operations and Commercial Development Dodi Herman said the US$21 million projects would join the PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) electricity system at the end of April 2021. "After the first synchronization, there are still several reliability tests for performance tests for EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) contractors to prove that the power plant is built according to the contract," he said.
The presence of 10 MW Dieng Small Scale PLTP will increase Dipa's electricity supply reliability to PLN. The plant will supply electricity to the Java, Madura, and Bali (Jamali) System and is still included in the Power Purchase Agreement (PJBTL) between Geo Dipa and PLN for the 55 MW PLTP Dieng Unit 1.
President Director and CEO of PT Inti Karya Persada Tehnik Yasuhiro Hime said, as an EPC contractor, his company had completed the 10 MW Dieng Small Scale PLTP within 18 months. With the initial breakthrough, geothermal development with a similar scheme can be carried out for other regions. Geo Dipa is the pioneer of small-scale PLTP in Indonesia. "We believe it would become a pilot project that can be replicated," he said.
