Kasim Refinery Development to Complete in December 2022
PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI) started the construction of a jetty facility or a special petroleum port at the Kasim Refinery, Sorong Regency, West Papua, on January 21, 2021. The 50,000 deadweight tonnage (DWT) facility will open and expand access to crude oil products from outside the region and even overseas to ramp up energy supply in Eastern Indonesia.
In addition to the jetty, the Pertamina's Refining & Petrochemicals Subholding will also build four tanks with a capacity of 110,000 barrels each, thus piling up the Kasim Refinery supply resilience to 40 days. KPI's Corporate Secretary Ifki Sukarya said that the Open Access Project for the Jetty III and Timbun Tank construction is currently undergoing several initial works. "In the early stages, the focus of the work is on detailed engineering design, land clearing, topographic surveys, bathymetry, soil investigation, and temporary facilities construction," he said on Wednesday (4/21). The Kasim Refinery development project is expected to complete in late December 2022.
