Astra's Strategy: Getting More Expansive in Digital Business

PT Astra International Tbk (ASII) reported that it invested US$40 million in two digital companies Halodoc and Sayurbox. Based on its financial report published on April 21, 2021, the share purchase was carried out in March and April 2021. "As part of a strategic initiative to accelerate digital transformation," Astra's management wrote in the report.

Astra invested US$5 million in Sayurbox and US$35 million in Halodoc. Sayurbox is an e-commerce grocery farm-to-table platform and distributor of fresh goods, while Halodoc is an online-based healthtech platform. Astra is the main investor in the funding rounds for these two startups. Speaking to Katadata.co.id, Halodoc Co-Founder Jonathan Sudharta confirmed this funding. "We have closed a Series C funding and will immediately announce it," he said.
