PLTU Tanjung Jati B Unit 5 and Unit 6 to Start Operating Early 2022

The Tanjung Jati B Unit 5 and Unit 6 Steam Power Plant (PLTU Tanjung Jati B Unit 5 and Unit 6), with a capacity of 2×2,000 megawatts (MW), will start operating in early 2022, although the construction progress has reached 98 percent. "Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are still negotiating with PLN [PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara] for the operation. It is possible to push back the schedule six months from the target into early 2022," said PT United Tractors Tbk Director of Finance and Accounting, Iwan Hadiantoro, Friday (4/9).

Iwan said that coal demand as fuel for PLTU Tanjung Jati B Unit 5 and Unit 6 reached 7.5 million tons per year. In the future, the Astra Group's subsidiary in the mining business unit, PT Tuah Turangga Agung, will supply the coal demand to United Tractors. "From the United Tractors group, [the supply] is around 2 million tons to 2.5 million tons per year," he said.
