THR Payment Negotiation Faces Stumbling Blocks

Wage gap
Summary

The government has yet to decide on the rules for religious holiday allowances (THR) payment for Eid Al-Fitr 2021. Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah said the THR payment scheme for this year is still being discussed by the work team of the National Wage Council (Depenas) and the national tripartite worker agency (Tripnas), citing that all feedbacks have been compiled and would be conveyed through a national tripartite plenary meeting.

"The national tripartite forum provides advice to the Minister of Manpower to determine regulations," Ida said on Monday (4/5). THR is mandatory payments by employers for workers during religious holidays. Thus, the government will issue a regulation on the non-wage income. According to her, the circular letter (SE), which becomes the legal basis for the 2021 THR regulation, will be issued after the tripartite team provides recommendations.
