How Far Can New Masyumi Go?
The Majelis Syuro Muslimin (Masyumi) Party has started its political movement this year. Formed in November 2020, the party announced its core committee for 2021-2026 on April 3, 2021. Ahmad Yani, a former member of the House of Representatives (DPR) from the United Development Party (PPP), will lead Masyumi. Recently, he was more popular as an exponent of the Save Indonesia Coalition (KAMI), posing as the government’s opposition.
Masyumi Party’s Syuro Assembly Decree Number 01.01/DPP-MS/M/2021 also mentions Alfian Tanjung, Abdul Khair Ramadhan, Zulkifli Ali, Ahmad Heri, and Ahmad Murjoko as the party’s deputy chairmen. "Those listed in the decree are considered to have decent faith, sharia, morals, and competence to carry out the party's mandate," Masyumi’s Syuro Council Secretary, Abbas Thaha, explained. The party will make the best use of these assets in all of its activities.
