Sumsel 8 Steam Power Plant to Operate in March 2022

Summary

Tanjung Lalang Steam Power Plant's (PLTU) construction progress or the so-called Sumsel 8 PLTU has reached 72.6 percent. The power plant, located in Muara Enim, South Sumatra, is expected to operate in March 2022. "So far, there have been no obstacles in its construction," said Deputy Director of PT Huadian Bukit Asam Power (HBAP) Dody Arsadian in a written statement on Sunday (3/14).

PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) built the 2x660 megawatts (MW) capacity power plant in collaboration with the Chinese company to supply electricity to Sumatra. "We can supply our electrical energy to other islands if the submarine power grid is available. This will be the only special energy economic zone in which we will also produce coal into gas and other products, and this is the first," said South Sumatra Governor Herman Deru in the same written statement.
