Two Upstream Oil and Gas Projects on Stream, 12 More to Follow Suit
The Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Special Task Force (SKK Migas) revealed that by mid-February, two upstream oil and gas projects had been on stream. The task force expected 14 upstream oil and gas projects to be on stream this year. The first one is the KLD Field Project operated by PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Onshore West Java (PHE ONWJ). The project went on stream last January and produced additional gas of 16 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd).
The second project is the South Mahakam Gas Supply to RU-V (Refinery Unit V Balikpapan) operated by PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM) and went on stream in January with a capacity of 50 MMscfd. "It is quite an encouraging achievement, considering that the production level is still hampered by the COVID-19 pandemic. The timely implementation of these two projects gives us the confidence that other projects in 2021 can be realized on time," Migas Julius Wiratno, the task force’s Deputy for Operations, revealed in a written statement.
SKK Migas, supported by contractors, will try its best to ensure the completion of the projects and, if possible, realize the 2022 target in 2021. "We are trying to speed up some activities and hoping to repeat last year’s achievement. This acceleration needs extra efforts," he said.
