Government Issues Antigen Test Regulation

The Minister of Health issued Ministerial Decree No. HK.01.07/Menkes/446 of 2021 on the use of rapid antigen tests for tracking COVID-19 patients. The regulation establishes an antigen test as a method of identifying COVID-19 patients under certain conditions. Ministry of Health's Director of Direct Contagious Disease Prevention and Control, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, said that the test is free for people in 98 areas that enforced Micro-scale Community Activities Restriction (PPKM).
"People are welcome to come to the Puskesmas if they feel COVID-19 symptoms and take a rapid antigen test. Tests and tracing in the PPKM-implementing areas are free of charge," Nadia said on Wednesday (2/10). According to her, the free rapid antigen tests at 98 regions aims to support tracing, testing, and treatment (3T). These regions – consisting of regencies/cities across Jakarta, Banten, West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, East Java, and Bali – are determined by the Ministry of Home Affairs Instruction No. 3/2021.
