The 2020-2025 National Energy Council: The New Members

The Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Minister, Arifin Tasrif, officially inaugurated eight members of the 2020-2025 National Energy Council (DEN) from various stakeholders on Friday (1/8). They had already been appointed by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), as the DEN chairman, through Presidential Decree No. 135/P/2020, dated December 30, 2020. "This appointment is a follow-up to the provisions of Article 13 of Law No. 30/2007 on energy affairs," Arifin revealed as the DEN executive chief.

Among the appointed members are Agus Puji Prasetyono and Musri, representing academics; Satya Widya Yudha and Herman Darnel Ibrahim as industry representatives. There are also Daryatmo Mardiyanto and Eri Purnomohadi from the consumer’s side. Meanwhile, Natio Lasman will bring his technological expertise, and Yusha Khan will oversee the environmental aspect.

After the inauguration, Daryatmo Mardiyanto explained that the national energy policy would be one of the important tasks of the National Energy Council. Consequently, issues related to national energy independence, sovereignty, and sustainability will be DEN’s focus that needs to be addressed step-by-step. "In the next five years, we will collectively focus on each step and oversee the cross-sectoral energy policy if necessary," he explained.
