Can Muhammadiyah Manage A Bank amid Economic Shocks?
Muhammadiyah is currently reviewing the plan to form a sharia bank. It recently planned to withdraw deposits from PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI), a merger between three state-owned sharia banks: PT BRI Syariah, PT BNI Syariah (BNIS), and PT Bank Syariah Mandiri (BSM).
"I cannot comment on the matter yet. The team is currently reviewing it," PP Muhammadiyah Economic Head, Anwar Abbas, revealed on Monday (12/28). The study on the establishment of the bank is also still awaiting the operation of BSI on February 1, 2021.
