Will Edhy’s Resignation Trigger Cabinet Reshuffle?
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has appointed the Coordinating Maritime Affairs and Investment Minister, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, as the acting Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister. Luhut assumed the position after Edhy Prabowo decided to resign after getting arrested by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in a bribery case for lobster larvae export permits. The ministry’s secretary-general, Antam Novambar, said that Edhy had submitted his resignation letter. "The letter was addressed to the President," he said on Friday (11/27).
Meanwhile, Antam also confirmed that the letter assigning Luhut as the acting minister had been issued on Wednesday (11/25). "We ensure that we will remain serving the public. We shall not be slacking," he said. Meanwhile, Luhut revealed that he had asked KKP officials, Antam, and the Director-General of Marine and Fisheries Resources Monitoring, TB. Haeru Rahayu, to keep working. “Don't stop any good program. We will evaluate if something needs to be improved, "said Luhut.
