Lobster Larvae Export Permit Comes and Goes

Lobster
Summary

The Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry (KKP) decided to temporarily suspend lobster larvae exports following the arrest of the Marine Affairs and Fisheries Minister, Edhy Prabowo. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) detained him for alleged bribery for granting permits to lobster larvae exporters and one-sidedly appointing a shipping cargo company.

The export ban is apparent in Circular No. B.22891/DJPTPI.130/XI/2020 issued by the ministry’s acting Director General of Capture Fisheries, Muhammad Zaini, on November 26, 2020. The letter states that the KKP stopped exports to improve lobster seed management. The ministry is also considering revising the Government Regulation on Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP). It will also stop issuing lobster larvae export permit (SPWP) indefinitely.
