How Minister Edhy Gets Caught Up in Lobster Seeds Export Scandal

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Edhy Prabowo on Wednesday (11/25). Edhy was arrested at Soekarno-Hatta Airport upon arrival from the United States. KPK’s deputy chairman Nurul Ghufron said Edhy's arrest was related to alleged corruption in lobster seeds export. "He was arrested at 1:23 a.m. together with his family [member] and several officials from the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry," he said.

The KPK questioned 17 people. Acting KPK spokesperson, Ali Fikri, said several pieces of evidence were confiscated, including an ATM card. "The ATM card may have a link to the corruption [case], currently it is still being inventoried by the team," Ali said. However, Edhy has not been named a suspect. The KPK has 24 hours, starting from the arrest, to determine the legal status of Edhy and the people being questioned.
