Government Develops Large Scale PLTA and PLTP Integrated with Industry

The government continues to accelerate the development of new and renewable energy (EBT) in Indonesia. The creation of a new renewable energy market through the Renewable Energy Based Industrial Development (REBID) and Renewable Energy Based Economic Development (REBED) Program is the government's strategy to accelerate the development of EBT. Implementation of the REBID program through the development of potential for hydropower plant (PLTA) and large-scale geothermal power plants (PLTP) integrated with industrial development and synergy with economic clusters' development.

Director of Bioenergy at the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry (ESDM) Andriah Feby Misna said the main objective of the REBID Program is the use of large-scale EBT to boost industrial growth as an effort to produce global products. Meanwhile, the REBED program is the development of EBT to spur the regional economy, including in the foremost, remote and disadvantaged (3T) regions of Indonesia. "Of course, apart from these two programs, the government is also working on others. We also expect the role of academics in research and technology development to support the acceleration of renewable energy development, "he said in a written statement on Wednesday (11/18).
