PLTMG Sorong Becomes the First Power Plant Gasification Project
PT Indonesia Power and PT Malamoi Olom Wobok have agreed on a Gas Sale and Purchase Agreement (PJBG) for the Sorong Gas-Fired Power Plant (PLTMG) Mobile Power Plant (MPP) with a capacity of 50 megawatts (MW). PLTMG Sorong is the first power plant gasification project based on a government assignment to PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) and PT Pertamina. "With the conversion of generator fuel, it is hoped that the reliability of electricity supply will be maintained," M. Ahsin Sidqi, President Director of PT Indonesia Power, a subsidiary of PLN, said on Monday (11/16).
The PJBG is also to support the reduction of the cost of production (BPP) for PLTMG MPP Sorong 50 MW electricity, which has been operating since September 25, 2019. In addition to High-Speed Diesel (HSD), PLN Primary Energy Director Rudy Hendra Prastowo said PLTMG Sorong currently uses 30 percent biodiesel (B30) with electricity BPP of Rp 1,847 per kWh, higher than the government stipulation of Rp 1,465 per kWh. Along with the conversion to natural gas as a substitute for HSD, the electricity BPP could drop to Rp 1,368 per kWh. "The signing of this agreement also reduces dependence on HSD fuel, which is quite expensive," he said.
