Mountainous Tasks Await Energy Ministry’s New Director Generals
The Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Minister, Arifin Tasrif, on Friday (11/6), inaugurated Tutuka Ariadji as the Director-General of Oil and Gas (Dirjen Migas) and Dadan Kusdiana as the Director-General of Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE). Arifin Tasrif tasked the new director-general of oil and gas to help him realize several strategic programs. One of them is the long-term plan to achieve the 1 million barrels per day production target while maintaining high levels of existing production. “By transforming EOR resources or production and undertaking massive explorations for new discoveries,” Arifin explained.
From the downstream side, the new director-general of oil and gas must also try to reduce fuel oil (BBM) imports and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to lower Indonesia’s foreign exchange deficit. For example, he can encourage contractors to speed up refinery developments and the massive use of renewable energy (EBT), such as replacing diesel with dimethyl ether (DME). “Implementing the gas price adjustment policy as an effort to increase domestic utilization and accelerate economic growth and national competitiveness,” Arifin said.
