Police to Arrest More Activists: Will KAMI Declarators Remain Free?
The police eye Save Indonesia Coalition’s (KAMI) members again. On Monday (10/19), they tried to arrest the chairman of the KAMI’s Executive Committee Ahmad Yani in the Matraman area in East Jakarta but failed. "There was an attempted arrest, I was in the office, and I asked what the basis was. What illegal acts that I did," Yani revealed, as quoted by Republika.co.id.
Since no one answered, Yani finally asked the police team leader with the rank of Police Superintended (AKBP) to provide an explanation. The officer then showed the Youtube content made by Anton Permana, the KAMI leader who was arrested in Rawamangun, East Jakarta, in the afternoon. Anton apparently said the narrative in the video was Yani’s composition. Yani argued that the statement was KAMI’s official stance which was widely signed and spread. Finally, the police only summoned Yani as a witness in Anton's case.
