Who Will Manage Patimban Port?
Several companies are competing to become the operator of the Patimban Port in Subang, West Java. The Indonesian Port Operators Association (ABUPI) recorded that about ten companies had taken the pre-qualification auction documents: PT CT Corp Infrastruktur Indonesia, PT Indika Logistic & Support Services, PT Samudera Terminal Indonesia, PT UC Services, PT Hasnur Jaya International, PT Hasnur Resources Terminal, PT Wahyusamudra Indah, PT Kaltim Kariangau Terminal, PT Waskita Karya Infrastruktur, and PT Pelayaran Tempuran Emas Tbk.
The ABUPI chairman, Aulia Febri, said that these companies were not big port players. He also revealed that many private companies currently tried to become port operators, so the government banned state-owned port operators such as PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) I, II, III, and IV from entering the project. “Ports in several areas have been under the management of the private sector; they know what they do. There are other operators other than Pelindo,” Aulia explained.
