Pandemonium of the Final Draft of Omnibus Law, What’s the impact?
After several versions of draft of the Job Creation Law circulated in public, the House of Representatives (DPR) finally confirmed which draft that would be submitted to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). The DPR Secretary General, Indra Iskandar, said that the final draft of the Job Creation Law is 1,035 pages long. This draft differs from the one circulating on October 5 which has 905 pages and on October 9 that has 1,052 pages. "The last one discussed was 1,035 pages," he said, Monday (12/10).
The draft released by the DPR Secretariat General entitled "JOB CREATION DRAFT BILL - SEND TO PRESIDENT". In this draft there is a statement that the Job Creation Bill and its explanations have been approved at the 7th plenary session of the DPR for the first session of 2020-2021, on October 5, 2020 to be passed into law. There is a signature column under the name of Deputy Speaker, Azis Syamsuddin. According to Indra, this draft is the same as the 905 page version. The addition of pages occurred due to editorial improvements. "If it [has been passed] in a plenary session nothing can change anymore, [it] can be sued," he said.
