New Standards of Cloth Mask Production
The COVID-19 mitigation task force will standardize high-quality masks, especially in the red zone. The task force head, Doni Monardo, revealed that high-quality masks were essential to prevent the spread of COVID-19. "It is about Indonesian National Standards [SNI] on masks in general, but for the red zone, we need to make standardization compulsory," he said on Monday (9/28).
According to Doni, the COVID-19 task force has identified companies that can manufacture masks with filter quality of up to 80 percent. The masks have received recommendations from the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) and product standardization agency in Germany. However, it is unnecessary to use such masks in areas with low transmission rates. "Only for those in high-risk areas. However, we still urge the people to use quality masks to minimize so that the risk of transmission is also small," he said.
