Two Development Wells for Medco E&P Natuna Exceed Output Target
Medco E&P Natuna Ltd had raised oil and gas production from Kerisi Field, located in the Block B of South Natuna Sea. The additional production exceeded the target set by The Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Task Force (SKK Migas). The Task Force's Acting Head of Program and Communication Division, Susana Kurniasih, said the additional production from Medco E&P Natuna could increase national oil and gas lifting for 2020. "We are excited and highly appreciated Medco E&P Natuna Ltd, which has succeeded in realizing additional drilling activities for two development wells, as well as giving better results than initial expectations," she said.
The drilling of both Medco E&P Natuna development wells was carried out by conducting sidetracks on wells with decreased productions, namely the KA-08 and KA-09. Once the sidetrack drilling is completed, Medco E&P Natuna will channel the oil and gas from the Kerisi Field through a pipeline to the Belanak facility. The KA-09 well, which began production on July 29, 2020, will flow 20 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMscfd), while the other one, which started production on August 9, 2020, is channeling 5,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd). "The output far exceeded the initial target, with KA-09ST1 well produced 8 MMscfd and KA-08ST1 well lifted 560 bopd. This shows that the area (Kerisi Field) is still good," said Susana.
