PHM Begins Construction of 3 Offshore Platforms in Mahakam Block
PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM) started the JSN Project by working on the construction of three offshore platforms for Sisi Nubi and South Mahakam Fields with investments reached US$ 105 million. The JSN project is to support 20 percent of Mahakam Block production by 2024. The measure was a follow-up to the signing of the Engineering, Procurement, Supply, Construction, and Commissioning contracts on July 27, 2020, by PHM and PT Meindo Elang Indah.
PHM Managing Director Danar Dojoadhi said the construction of the three platforms with a total weight of 5,500 tons would take 18 months, including five months for installing the offshore platform and connecting pipes along 16 km. The project will be completed in Q4/2021. "These three platforms, the Jumelai Pavilion for the South Mahakam Field, as well as North Sisi Pavilion and North Nubi Pavilion for the Sisi Nubi Field, will produce 120 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMscfd)," said Danar in a written statement, Tuesday (9/1).
Head of the Project Management and Maintenance Division for the Upstream Oil and Gas Business Regulatory Task Force (SKK Migas) Luky A. Yusgiantoro said in addition to ensuring the continuity of production in the coming years, PHM investment activities can also increase the interests in the domestic upstream oil and gas investment. "I hope that the measure will be followed by many other investors so that when oil prices improve, we are ready to increase production," said Luky.
