SESM, Sungrow Power Build Solar Power Plant in South Sumatra
PT Sumber Energi Sukses Makmur (SESM) signed a cooperation contract for the procurement of solar power plants (PLTS) with Sungrow Power Supply Co Ltd, a China-based company with a capacity of 10.5 megawatt-peak (MWp). Sungrow won the PLTS procurement tender in South Sumatra, which was participated by seven companies from China, Europe, and South Korea. "SESM and Sungrow will start PLTS construction in September 2020, and the COD [commercial operations date] is planned for January 2021, according to the initial project planning," said SESM President Director Zulfian Mirza in a press release, Wednesday (8/12).
The tender assessment was not only based on the lowest bid price, but also referred at other terms and conditions such as construction time, tier 1 photovoltaics (PV) specifications, and 35-year pv international warranty that exceeds the 20-year contract duration. The PLTS development is to meet the demands of South Sumatra-based companies engaged in oil palm plantations. Previously, SESM signed a cooperation contract with an oil palm plantation company on February 27, 2020, for electricity procurement. According to the cooperation contract, SESM builds a Musi Green Hybrid power plant with 10.5 MW capacity and will operate it for 20 years.
