Djoko Tjandra Amid New Legal Probe Entanglement
The Financial Services Authority (OJK) civilly sued PT Sanggarcipta Kreasitama, a company under Djoko Tjandra's Mulia Group, which manages building leases, including Wisma Mulia 1. This lawsuit is in response to the findings of nearly half a trillion squander in building leases, which was questioned by the Supreme Audit Agency. (BPK) in 2018.
The civil lawsuit No. 373/Pdt.G/2020/PN JKT.SEL was registered in the South Jakarta District Court since May 12, 2020. When the findings of buildings rentals' squander brought into the spotlight last year, the OJK stated it would sue civilly. This statement could temporarily reduce the issue of a squander.
The issue started when OJK decided to lease the Wisma Mulia 1 and 2 buildings in January 2018. The building rents were taken from OJK's budget overruns as the fees received exceeded the plans and needs of the new office. The problem is, only half of the Wisma Mulia 2 building was utilized, while the rest was left empty.
Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) investigation in 2018 revealed that the OJK had paid Rp 412.3 billion for leasing Wisma Mulia 1 for three years until January 2021, and Rp 70.56 billion for Wisma Mulia 2 for one year until January 2019. Based on these findings, he BPK stated that the OJK did not carry out adequate planning and recommended that the agency be held responsible.
