Is CPC Ready to Absorb Gas Output from Masela Block?
The Upstream Oil and Gas Special Regulatory Task Force (SKK Migas) continues to look for buyers of gas from the Abadi Field LNG project in the Masela Block. It is one of the main requirements for the project located in Maluku. SKK Migas Head Dwi Soetjipto said the demand is still there despite the big challenges in marketing Masela Block's gas. "The search for buyers has pretty good progress, for example, CPC from Taiwan is now interested in absorbing LNG from the Abadi Project," Dwi said on Thursday (7/30).
Besides CPC, Dwi revealed various parties had also expressed their interest in absorbing gas from the Masela Block. Although not yet bound by any contract, more than 50 percent of the block gas production managed by Inpex Corporation has become their target. "Some are interested in making a memorandum of understanding or letter of intent," he said. For the domestic market, PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) and PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN) only have to agree on the volume of gas to become the main consumer of Masela Block's gas.
