ShopeePay's Payment Expansion, Is It a Threat to GoPay and OVO?

Shopee is teaming up with a Japanese payment company, JCB International Co Ltd (JCBI). This collaboration will be realized in providing alternative payment methods, which are integrated in Shopee e-commerce platforms in Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam starting this month.

Meanwhile, payment services from JCBI will be available on the Shopee platform in Singapore and the Philippines next month. "As fellow local brands, Shopee and JCB uphold commitment in supporting businesses in the Southeast Asian market," Shopee Chief Operating Officer (COO) Terence Pang wrote in a press release on Tuesday (7/28).
