Industrial Zone Managers Scramble for Investors
Several industrial estate managers are after investors planning to relocate factories from China to Indonesia. PT Kawasan Industri Jababeka Tbk (KIJA), for example, set up industrial estates in Cikarang, West Java, and Kendal, Central Java, for these investors. Jababeka Corporate Secretary Muljadi Suganda claimed that he had identified the factors needed by the industry, such as international quality infrastructure, including electricity and Cikarang Dry Port.
Muljadi said the company would keep expanding to attract investors from China, Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea. "We also have the support of 30 existing foreign tenants such as Unilever, Loreal, Samsung, Komatsu, and others," he said.
Meanwhile, PT Kawasan Industri Wijayakusuma (Persero) is completing the Brebes and Batang Industrial Estates, Central Java, to accommodate relocating investors. Company's Operations Director Ahmad Fauzie Nur said that Brebes industrial estate construction is nearly completed, while its Batang counterpart is still being prepared with several other State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs).
