PHE to Complete the Largest Seismic Survey in Asia Pacific

Summary

PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) Jambi Merang will soon complete a 30,800-kilometer 2D seismic survey. This exploration activity aims to find new oil and gas reserves. According to the Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Special Task Force (SKK Migas) Program and Communication Division Head Susana Kurniasih, the 2D seismic survey process was running smoothly and had reached 98 percent.

After the 2D seismic survey is complete, PHE will proceed to the data processing stage. Susana hopes that the whole process can be completed before the end of this year. "Data processing is expected to be completed by November 2020," he told Katadata.co.id on Monday (7/27). The scope of the 2D seismic survey consists of 47 basins stretching from Bangka waters in Western Indonesia to Papua waters in Eastern Indonesia. The length of the track reaching 30,800 kilometers is the largest seismic survey activity in the Asia Pacific region in the past ten years.
