Accelerating 10 New Metropolitan Cities' Arrangements
The government is accelerating the development of 10 new metropolitan areas, which stretch from Sumatra to Sulawesi. Head of the Regional Infrastructure Development Agency (BPIW) Hadi Sucahyono said the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono had ordered him to prepare infrastructure development plans to recover the economy from the COVID-19 pandemic impact.
Hadi mentioned Kedungsepur, Central Java, as one of these areas, which consists of Kendal, Demak, Semarang City, Semarang Regency, Salatiga City, and Grobogan Regency. "The planning for Kedungsepur Metropolitan Area must be completed within the next two weeks," said Hadi. The ministry was also asked to submit short-term and long-term development programs for the ten areas shortly.
