Bank Banten’s Liquidity Crisis: What Are the Options?

The liquidity problem of PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Banten Tbk (BEKS) or Bank Banten is getting more serious. In March to April, fund withdrawals drained banks’ third-party funds (DPK) by about 30 percent.

Banten Regional Secretary, Al Muktabar, revealed the fund drain before the plenary meeting with Banten DPRD on Tuesday (7/14). “The fund withdrawal has absorbed almost 30 percent of Bank Banten’s third-party funds,” Al Muktabar stated.

However, the plenary meeting finally decided that the Banten Legislative Council's Commission III will discuss the proposal of Banten Governor, Wahidin Halim, on adding capital injection in the shares of PT Banten Global Development for Bank Banten.
