Here Are 14 Potential Oil and Gas Blocks in Indonesia

The Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry's Geological Agency issued recommendations for 38 oil and gas working areas in Indonesia that could be explored. About 12 of them are conventional working areas that have oil and gas potential. They are Teluk Bone Utara, Misool Timur, Atsy, Mamberamo, Boka, Buru, Aru-Tanimbar Offshore, Biak, Wamena, Sahul, Selaru, and South Arafura. Furthermore, two non-conventional working areas have oil and gas potential. Both are Kutai and East Kutai.
Acting Head of the Geological Agency Saleh Abdurrahman said the largest resource exists in the South Arafura working area, with an oil potential of 6,144.54 million barrels of oil (MMBO) and gas of 7.36 trillion cubic feet (TCF). Geological Agency has offered four of 12 conventional oil and gas working areas to the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry's Oil and Gas Directorate-General. "If we have given recommendations to the Oil and Gas Directorate General, it means we have calculated it is worth developing from its size and others," he said on Wednesday (7/8).
