Connecting Java-Bali Toll Road

The government intends to connect the Trans-Java toll road with five new toll roads in Bali. The Public Works and Housing Minister, Basuki Hadimuljono, revealed the plan to tie Java and Bali islands, separated by the Bali Strait, with a bridge, similar to the Suramadu Bridge, connecting Surabaya and Madura Island in East Java.
Basuki also said that the Trans-Java toll road project had only one remaining segment, the Probolinggo-Banyuwangi or Probowangi toll road. However, the construction of the toll road would start in late 2020. Meanwhile, in Bali’s side, the government plans to add Gilimanuk-Denpasar and Gilimanuk-Tabanan toll roads. The head of Indonesia Toll Road Authority (BPJT), Danang Parikesit, said that the project’s initiator was conducting a feasibility study, including its social aspects.
