Rebel GoFood Indonesia Heats Up Cloud Kitchen Competition

Rebel Food is predicted to enter the Indonesian market in the second half of this year. The presence of PT Rebel GoFood Indonesia's profile on LinkedIn since a few months ago has strengthened this prediction. The COVID-19 pandemic is unlikely to derail its planned business expansion into Indonesia. The Indonesian market is a destination for the cloud kitchen startup's international expansion because it is considered to have a crisis-resistant market.
Quoting the Economic Times, Rebel's calculations show that the Indonesian market experienced only a 15 percent correction in online food sales during the COVID-19 pandemic. It was much smaller than the 50 percent decline in the Indian market. In April 2020, Rebel received funding worth US$ 50 million from its old investor, Coatue Management. A few months earlier, the Mumbai-based startup secured US$ 125 million in funds from Coatue, GoJek, and Goldman Sachs.
