Will the Masela Block's Production be Delayed a Year?

Summary

The Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Special Task Force (SKK Migas) said the survey activities in the Masela Block could not be carried out because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The activity consists of Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and onshore-offshore geological and geophysical (G&G) surveys. The metocean survey, tidal survey, and other studies are still ongoing. "They are still running, but are limping," SKK Migas Deputy of Operations Julius Wiratno told Katadata.co.id.

As a result, SKK Migas projects that production in the Masela Block could be postponed up to one year from the government's target in 2026. "It will be delayed for six to 12 months, depending on future conditions and how much recovery efforts will be," he said.
