ADB Provides US$ 300 Million for 110 MW PLTP Project
ADB agreed to provide a loan worth US$ 300 million to assist PT Geo Dipa Energi in increasing the capacity of geothermal power plants (PLTP) up to 110 megawatts in Java. ADB will also manage a loan of US$ 35 million from the Clean Technology Fund (CTF) for the project on the island, which they call the most extensive electricity network area in Indonesia and the most challenging market for renewable energy development.
"Through the geothermal project, ADB will help Indonesia fight climate change and make the country's electricity system more sustainable, reliable, and efficient while helping businesses and consumers to access affordable, reliable, and modern energy," ADB Indonesia country director Winfried F. Wicklein said on Thursday (5/28). The loan is also in line with Indonesia's long-term goals to achieve economic and energy growth, including maximizing the use of domestic energy resources, adding to the energy mix, and ensuring environmental sustainability.
