West Natuna Utilizes Medco's Facility for Duyung Block Development
The Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Special Task Force (SKK Migas) has approved the plan of development (POD) for Duyung Block. In developing the offshore oil and gas block, West Natuna Exploration Ltd, as the operator, will use the production facility owned by Medco E&P Natuna Ltd. SKK Migas Deputy of Operations Julius Wiratno said the use of the facility is aimed at accelerating the production of the Duyung Block. Moreover, the gas produced from the oil and gas block located in the Natuna Sea will flow to Singapore through the West Natuna Transportation System (WNTS) pipeline.
According to Julius, the Duyung Block's gas buyers are coming from Sembawang, Singapore. However, he did not know the exact amount of gas that would be supplied by the West Natuna Exploration to that country. "If I'm not mistaken, we will build a production facility with a capacity of around 100 MMSCFD," he told Katadata.co.id on Wednesday (5/27). The Duyung Block is projected to produce 44 MMSCFD of gas with an economical period of production up to 2031. The Duyung Block project is targeted to start operating in 2022.
