Relaxing Flights End up in Punishment

Summary

The Transportation Ministry will penalize Batik Air and PT Angkasa Pura II for violating Transportation Ministerial Regulation No. 18 /2020 on the transportation control to prevent the spread of Covid-19. The ministry’s director-general of civil aviation, Novie Riyanto, said that Batik Air violated the provisions on passenger occupancy rates.

Meanwhile, Angkasa Pura II had to hold responsible for violating the physical distancing protocol at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. Batik Air’s management also admitted that the number of passengers on a specially-designed flight exceeded 50 percent of the aircraft’s capacity and therefore violating Permenhub No. 18/2020. Batik Air’s spokesperson, Danang Prihantoro, said that it happened because several passengers wanted a group trip.
