MSTB Field Project May Not Go Onstream in Q3

Summary

The Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Task Force (SKK Migas) estimates that the MSTB Phase 1-EPF field project may not go on stream as targeted in the third quarter of 2020. The onstream target for the project located in the Malacca Straits Block will be pushed back to the end of 2020. SKK Migas deputy of operations Julius Wiratno said the MSTB Phase 1-EPF field project undertaken by EMP Mallacca Strait falls behind its onstream schedule due to economic problems in three development wells. "However, we are trying to be onstream in 2020," he told Bisnis Indonesia on Wednesday (5/6).

In 2019, the Malacca Strait Block output managed by the subsidiary of PT Energi Mega Persada Tbk was around 3,700 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd). In 2018, the production from the oil and gas block located in the Meranti Islands Regency, Riau, reached 1,134 barrels of oil per day (bopd) and 1.8 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd). The government extended the Malacca Strait Block contract, which expires in 2020, for the next 20 years using a gross split scheme.
