As Controversy Arises, Will Govt Change the Name of Job Creation Bill?

Summary

The Public Hearing (RDPU) between the House of Representatives’ (DPR) Legislative Body and the Indonesian Indigenous Entrepreneurs Association (HPPI) gave rise to the idea of changing the Job Creation Bill's name to Ease of Doing Business and Investment Bill. Member of the Legislative Body from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) Arteria Dahlan said the planned change was on the back of the lacking materials related to job creation in the bill.

DPR’s Democratic National Party (Nasdem) Legislative Member Taufik Basari said the government wanted to create a legal basis for economic revival through the Omnibus Law. He proposed the name of the Economic Awakening Bill. "The bill will not only cut convoluted regulations but also accommodate the desire to revive the economy, while still guaranteeing people's rights," Taufik said, as quoted by Antara on Monday (4/27).
