Pertamina EP Delays Camelia-1 Well Drilling to Next Year

Summary

PT Pertamina EP (PEP) is forced to postpone its plan to drill one exploration well into the next year. PEP President Director Nanang Abdul Manaf said Pertamina's subsidiary in the upstream sector plans to drill ten exploration wells this year. However, the drilling of one exploration well, which is Camelia-1 Well in the North Sumatra region, has been shifted to the first quarter of 2021.

The cause is the Covid-19 pandemic and falling world oil prices. Moreover, the well is a deep pressure well and has a high temperature, so it requires careful preparation and needs a special drill tool that must be imported from abroad. "The plan [drilling] in the fourth quarter of this year will shift to the first quarter of next year," Nanang told Katadata.co.id, Wednesday (4/15).
