Encouraging Cash for Work Project

Summary

President Joko Widodo ordered the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry, the Transportation Ministry, and the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry to accelerate the Cash for Work Program implementation. Jokowi said the project might open a new source of income for the community amid business activities stagnation.

The Cash for Work Program is a self-managed project by the community. By working on the project, Jokowi expects to create new jobs amid the business disruption due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The program is already included in Presidential Instruction No. 4/2020 concerning refocusing activities and budget reallocation for Covid-19 mitigation.
