Converting State Assets Into Coronavirus Hospitals

Summary

The government keeps creating emergency hospitals or treatment facilities for Covid-19 patients. The State-Owned Enterprises Ministry is now exploring the possibility of transforming unused state properties into temporary hospitals for Covid-19 patients. Arya Sinulingga, an aide to State-Owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir, revealed that such hospitals would exist outside Jakarta, such as in Semarang, Bandung, and Surabaya.

Arya said that the State-Owned Enterprises Ministry would collaborate with several government institutions such as the Religious Affairs Ministry in the process. The government plans to convert the ministry’s hajj dormitories across the country into emergency hospitals or treatment facilities. In essence, the plan is to replicate the Kemayoran athlete dormitory model, recently converted into an emergency hospital.
