How Low Will Rupiah Go?
Rupiah tumbled to its weakest since November 2018 on Tuesday as anxiety had built up over the spread of the coronavirus, triggering sell-off in the financial markets in developing countries, including Indonesia.
The currency slumped 1.5 percent or 240 points to Rp 15,173 per US$ at the close of the previous trading, the weakest level since November 2018. On the forward market, the rupiah exchange rate for the next two months even reached Rp 17,000 per US$.
