Why is Trading Halt Ineffective to Stem Market Rout?
The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) halted the trading of shares as the Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) crashed 5.01 percent at 15.33 to 4,895.75. The trading halt is the Financial Services Authority (OJK) policy, which asks the bourse to take anticipatory measures to stem sharp fluctuations in the capital market, instructing IDX to stop trading for 30 minutes if the index falls by more than five percent.
