Handling of coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreaks in Indonesia entered a new phase since last week. President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has appointed Secretary of the Directorate General of Disease Prevention and Control at the Health Ministry Achmad Yurianto as the government spokesman in coronavirus since March 3. It means that Health Minister Terawan Agus Putranto is no longer authorized to comment on the handling of the case.

In addition, the handling of the Covid-19 case is also now handled directly by the Office of the Presidential Staff. In a press conference on the protocol for handling coronavirus cases on March 6 at the State Palace complex, Terawan was no longer present. Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko chaired the cross-agency meeting. The Health Ministry was represented by the Secretary-General of the ministry, Oscar Primadi.
