Sumbawa Timur Mining Discovers Massive Gold Deposit

PT Sumbawa Timur Mining (STM) finally announced the discovery of a massive copper-gold ore deposit after ten years of exploration in Sumbawa Island, West Nusa Tenggara. The finding will propel the joint venture between Eastern Star Resources Pty Ltd, the subsidiary of Vale SA, and PT Aneka Tambang (Antam) Tbk as one of the most important copper and gold producers in the world.

STM is the seventh generation of the contract of work holder for the Hu’u project in Hu’u District, Dompu Regency, West Nusa Tenggara. Sumbawa Timur Mining President Director Bede Evans, in a written statement on Thursday, February 20, revealed that according to the company’s assessment in December 2019, the total mineral resources in the site was about 0.76 tons, consisting of 0.93 percent of copper and 0.56 gram per ton of gold.
