Retail Sales to Fall in Early 2020

Summary

The year-end celebration fails the country's consumer spending in December. Indonesia's Retail Sales rose 0.5 percent on an annual basis (year-on-year/YoY) in December. It had dropped 1.3 percent in November.

Bank Indonesia (BI) estimates the January 2020 Real Sales Index (IPR) will continues to slope by 3.1 percent YoY. The decline in retail sales was mainly due to the sales of cultural and recreational goods and clothing.
