Cement Industry Waiting for Momentum

Summary

Cement sales were still slowing down in 2019, with total sales of 76.1 million tons, rising 1.2 percent compared to 2018. Domestic sales in 12M19 reached 69.8 million tons, up 0.3 percent. Despite weakening in December, export sales decreased 38 percent, while cumulative export sales were 6.4 million tons, up 11.8 percent.

The increase in domestic cement sales and exports in 2019 was the slowest in the last two years. The Indonesian Cement Association noted that cement sales rose 9.7 percent in 2107 compared to 69.37 million in the previous year. In 2018, cement sales rose 8.6 percent to around 75.2 million tons.
